Friday Favourites #3

I'm back, back again, with Friday Favourites #2. I've decided that this isn't going to be a weekly thing but more of an as and when I feel like I'm loving enough stuff to post kinda thing. Which could be weekly! You never know! I don't have a crystal ball to tell me what the coming weeks entail so I'm not making any promises. Just going with the flow. Although I do know there won't be one next Friday because I'm spending the week in Lanzarote without my laptop 😉

It's quite a mish mash of stuff this time and there's not one single beauty or skincare related favourite at all. I literally can't remember the last time I even tried a new product so that's an oops on my part. Need to get back into the swing of things in that respect but on we go with what I've been loving this week:

I was sorting through old boxes last week and I came across my old GameBoy Advance SP along with my Pokémon games. Next thing I knew I'd been playing Pokémon Yellow for about six hours! Just as addictive as when I was a kid! I've been setting down my phone for a few hours every day to play Pokémon and it's bloody brilliant. It's a lovely little escape from reality!

Like my last favourites post, Ed Sheeran is making an appearance because Divide dropped last Friday and holy crap it's amazing! I'm a full Ed convert now. Divide has been on repeat for about five days now and it's not getting old. Favourite songs have to be Galway Girl and Nancy Mulligan but I love every track on the album!

Sherlock Holmes
I have a confession: I've never read any of the Sherlock Holmes stories. I've loved the films with Robert Downey JR and Jude Law, and I have a love/hate relationship with the modern BBC adaptation but I've never read the stories. I've tried! Several times! I just couldn't get into them. Then Audible released the entire collection of Sherlock Holmes stories narrated by Stephen Fry. That was one Audible credit damn well spent. I absolutely adore Stephen Fry's narration of the Harry Potter audiobooks so when this pinged into my inbox, I knew I had to give them a try and I'm loving them. Stephen paints a really vivid picture with the way he narrates just like he did with Harry Potter. I'm listening to a chapter a night, sometimes two or three if I get really into it, when I get into bed but as the entire collection is a whopping seventy one hours long it's going to take me a while to finish it!

HA! Anyone that knows my fluctuating feelings towards Instagram will be surprised to find it in a favourites post! I rant on Twitter quite a lot about how frustrating a platform Instagram is with the follow/unfollow game, how hard it is to grow a following, the annoying algorithm etc. However I recently went on a trip to Disneyland Paris with one of my friends Jess who is an absolute Instagram queen and it's not possible to not get swept away with it when you're around her (She's MissRagamuffin on there and her feed is a delight of Disney goodness). Since that trip I've found that I love sitting with a cup of tea, scrolling through my Instagram feed, checking hashtags and even watching Instastories. I haven't posted as much as I did while I was away in Disney because real life can't possibly compete with the magic of Disney but it's something I want to make more of an effort with. Who knows, I might be a complete convert soon 😂

I BLOODY LOVE GOING ON HOLIDAY. Like I said above my next one is a trip to Lanzarote with my pals and it's my first ever proper relaxing beach holiday and I'm so flipping excited. It's only five days but it's five days of sun, reading books by the pool, going to the beach, seeing some of the sights, chilling and drinking cocktails. As you guys know from my previous post life has been a bit up and down of late and I'm just looking forward to switching off from all my worries. A bit of a rest and some craic and giggles with my friends is just what I need! Roll on Monday morning!

What have been some of your faves this week? Are you as obsessed with Ed's as I am?!
Let me know in the comments!

  1. Great read! I always love to see what people are loving. I have had a love hate relationship with Instagram too.. I hate the unfollow follow game on both Instagram and twitter. For me, it's harder to gain a following on twitter for some reason. But, I still enjoy exploring my feed and seeing other people's posts!

  2. I TOTALLY understand what you are saying about Instagram - I too am often ranting on Twitter about my frustrations with Follow/Unfollow game, however I have a deep seeded love for Instagram!
