The Band Review

It’s 1992 and we meet five 16 year old girls for who ‘The Band’ is everything.  Join us on this emotional rollercoaster as this group of girls who were once inseparable reunite after 25 years apart and try once more to fulfil their dream of meeting the boyband whose music became the soundtrack to their lives.
A new musical written by Tim Firth to the music of Take That!
Starring the winners of BBC's Let It Shine.

After being so kindly invited to the press launch event for the show last Tuesday, I was so excited to see the musical performed in person! Especially after being treated to an acapella performance by ‘The Band’ that afternoon!

If you have ever been a fan of anything in your life you need to go and see The Band musical during its current run at The Grand Opera House in Belfast. I can honestly say, hand on heart I haven’t had as much fun at a musical in years. I laughed, I cried, I danced in my seat and I just had a flipping good time.

However, the boys and their tunes might be the selling point but the show itself belongs to the girls!

From the moment I sat in my seat and saw the classic Ceefax screens being displayed onstage, I was transported back to my childhood. From the posters plastered across Rach’s bedroom to the frantic planning of what outfits they were going to wear, the entire show is a nostalgia trip for anyone who grew up or who was born in the 90s.

Take That’s legendary music was perfectly complemented by clever staging, amazing choreography, a touching story, witty dialogue and stellar performances from the entire cast.

Any musical that has the entire audience on their feet and singing along at the top of their lungs by the end gets a massive thumbs up from me. I didn’t just go to a performance when seeing this musical, I had the most wonderful and uplifting experience which had me grinning from ear to ear as I left the Grand Opera House.

‘The Band’ is running for two weeks at The Grand Opera House in Belfast and I would 100% recommend that you see it before it finishes. Grab your mum, grab your cousins or grab some friends and head up for an unforgettably funny and moving show. You won’t regret it! Tickets available at The Grand Opera House!
